October Learning Lab is a digital communications education and training company located in Atlanta.
We build certification programs, facilitated learning experiences, and governance advisory for organizations whose communicators work under public scrutiny and regulatory constraint.
Our Mission
We help organizations communicate more effectively so they can better inform, prepare, and empower the people they serve.
Our Beliefs
We believe better communication helps people make better decisions and strengthens the organizations they rely on every day.
We believe great digital communication is both an art and a skill. We learn from many disciplines, including communications, journalism, marketing, storytelling, public service, and the creator economy, because valuable ideas can come from anywhere.
We believe you don't need a degree in digital communications or digital marketing or "social media" in your job title to become an effective digital communicator. With curiosity, practice, and the right frameworks, anyone can develop the skills to communicate with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
We do this work because we believe better communication can improve people's everyday lives, often in quiet ways that make a meaningful difference. It's our way of making our corner of the world a little better.
Our Values
We put people first. We remember there's a person behind every click, comment, question, and decision.
We value practical learning. We teach what works in the real world, not just in theory.
We stay curious. We learn from many disciplines and believe good ideas can come from anywhere.
We build trust through clarity. We believe clear, honest communication strengthens relationships and organizations.
We lead with service. We measure success by the positive impact our work has on the organizations we support and the people they serve.
At the end of the day, communication isn't just about messages—it's about people.
Our Founder
Sabrina Merritt
SCORE was codified from more than a decade of hands-on government digital communications execution by Sabrina Merritt, October Learning Lab's founder and principal. Sabrina has spent ten years leading digital communications, governance, and education for public-sector, mission led and regulated organizations — first as the founder of a digital agency serving government and regulated industries, and now as the architect of the SCORE™ Method.
That decade inside the approval chains, strategic communications and accountability realities of regulated communication is the foundation SCORE™ is built on; a curriculum and education framework written from practice, not theory.
Over the course of her career, Sabrina has worked with the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, the Georgia Department of Transportation, Georgia Public Broadcasting, Emory University, Spelman College, Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs, Episcopal Relief & Development, International Youth Foundation, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Nashville Health, Jackson and Coker and more.
